‘Ozashiki-Asobi’ experience with Geisha in Mukojima Kagai

In this traditional rhythmic hand game, a geisha and a guest sit facing each other with a small bowl placed on a table between them. To the rhythm of the “Konpira Funefune” song, they take turns moving their hands over the bowl.

When the bowl is removed, the next player must make a fist (“rock”); when it remains on the table, the player must show an open hand (“paper”). As the tempo increases, the game becomes faster and more exciting, and the first player to make a mistake loses.

It’s a lighthearted cultural experience that captures the essence of Edo-period teahouse entertainment.

Tora Tora is a traditional Japanese parlor game similar to rock-paper-scissors. A geisha and a guest stand on opposite sides of a folding screen, hidden from each other’s view.

To the rhythm of the “Tora Tora” song, they dance and then strike a pose representing a tiger, a warrior, or an old woman. The warrior defeats the tiger, the old woman defeats the warrior, and the tiger defeats the old woman.

Full of laughter and surprise, this playful game offers an entertaining and interactive glimpse into the traditions of geisha hospitality.

Tōsenkyō is a traditional Japanese fan-tossing game in which players gently toss an open folding fan toward a small target placed on a wooden stand.

Points are awarded based on the final positions of the fan and the target after the throw. The challenge lies not only in hitting the target but also in creating a beautiful arrangement that earns a high score.

Combining elegance, concentration, and a touch of friendly competition, Tōsenkyō offers a delightful glimpse into the refined pastimes of the Edo period.

◆ Itinerary

4:00 PM – Meeting at Honjo-azumabashi Station

Meet your guide at Honjo-azumabashi Station (Toei Asakusa Line), Exit A3 (street level).

4:10 PM – 5:40 PM – Guided Walking Tour

Enjoy a stroll along the Sumida River, visiting Sumida Park, Ushijima Shrine, Miwa Shrine, and other historic spots.

6:00 PM – Arrival at Ryotei Chiyoda

Enjoy traditional Japanese cuisine, geisha performances, and Ozashiki-Asobi (traditional parlor games).

Approximately 9:00 PM – End of Experience

14 days or more before: Free cancellation
13 to 7 days before: 30% of the total booking amount
6 days or less before: 100% of the total booking amount

2. Reduction in the Number of Participants

7 days or more before: Free of charge
6 days or less before: 100% of the fee for each cancelled participant
